Some good news!

We are very lucky in the UK to have the NHS and all the people who work for it work very hard. The work is difficult and the hours are long. However due to patient numbers exceeding NHS capacity it can take a long time to get answers to health issues. As mentioned previously I injured my back last year, 4 months later I had an MRI scan, 3 months on I was still waiting for the results. I was told it could take another 3 - 6 months for the results. In the end I paid for a private consultation (which I got within a week!) in order to find out what was going on. Well it has been a bit of a nightmare but it looks like I have turned a vital corner.... I don't need surgery! Yeah! I am so pleased! I have got some issues: a disc bulge, nerve impingement and a degenerating joint. So I'm now booked in for a course of physiotherapy to strengthen my core stability and £260 poorer!

To celebrate I bought myself some lovely Cath Kidston provence mugs with my House of Fraser £10 rewards voucher and £10 gift token (so technically I didn't spend a thing!)

Aren't they lovely?!

Sew? Yes please!

Yay! I'm all excited today. Look what the lovely postman gave to me this morning!!!

Well I must admit I had purchased this book last week on Amazon so I did know that it was due to arrive at some point. But wow I'm so glad it's here! This book is sooo cute! In case the cover did not give it away this book is called 'Sew' by Cath Kidston.

Inside the front pocket contains all the material and buttons needed to complete the sweet little bag on the front cover - why thank you Cath!

There are also detailed  instructions of how to stitch the cotton pieces together. I find it amazing that these little pieces of material make a bag.

There are 41 projects in total in this book with an accompanying pattern sheet to trace to cut your material. As well as instructions for each project there is also an introduction to your essential equipment, sewing machines,  hems, seams, edgings, fastenings, ties, handles, applique, quilting and decorative details - phew! This is a lot to take in for a novice! I have noticed that the majority of the projects require a sewing machine. My mom has kindly offered to lend me hers before I make an investment myself (thanks mom!). I am very excited about this book and so is my mom who's a seasoned sewer so I suppose this book suits the beginner and the more experienced sewer.

 Until next time take care

Pretty & Practical!

How pretty is this little sewing kit?!
If you peek inside you can see that there are an assortment of useful little goodies. Admittedly this is a starter set so great for beginners and children (supervised of course!).
I have recently sprained my back through over energetic kitchen renovations (more on this another time) and as I have limited mobility at the moment and am incredibly bored I thought I would try to do something practical and enjoyable which required little movement. I always loved creating and making as a child and thought this little kit would help me start up again. This kit is available to buy on Amazon or Sewing-online.com. I am not affiliated in any way - I just thought the box (very Cath Kidston esc) and contents were very cute and at £9.42 you can't complain!
